About The Cherry on Top

The Cherry on Top is a family-friendly paint-your-own pottery studio and ice cream shop in historic downtown Lampasas, Texas. We are locally owned, and we built this place so neighbors would have somewhere to slow down, make something and share a scoop.

A creative shop in a building with history

We opened in 2020 inside a restored building that dates back to 1885. The bones of downtown Lampasas are part of the experience here — the tall storefront, the blue façade, the red and white striped awning out front and the sidewalk tables where people sit with a cone.

Inside, the shelves are full of pottery waiting to be painted, the glass case holds fused glass projects and supplies, the kilns run in the back and the ice cream counter is right there in the middle of it all.

Art and ice cream under one roof

  • Paint-your-own pottery for every age and skill level
  • Fused glass projects, recommended for ages eight and older
  • Camps, classes, workshops and seasonal projects
  • Birthday parties, group visits and private events
  • Blue Bell and Hershey's ice cream with waffle cones made in house

A welcoming place for your people

Families come in on rainy Saturdays. Grandparents bring grandkids. Friends book girls' nights. Couples paint on date nights. Teams trade the conference room for a paintbrush. Scout troops, church groups and school field trips fill the tables during the week.

We hear the same thing from a lot of guests: it is nice to put the phones down for a couple of hours. That is the whole idea — unplug, create, connect.

Part of Lampasas and Central Texas

Lampasas is our home, and we love being part of downtown. Guests also drive in from Kempner, Copperas Cove, Killeen, Burnet, Liberty Hill, Marble Falls, and Lometa, and we are glad to be an easy stop for families looking for something to do together in Central Texas and The Texas Hill Country.

Whether you have an afternoon to fill, a birthday to celebrate or just a craving for a cone, there is room for you here.
